Very lovely, rare emerald cut, Ceylon, pastel "padparadscha" sapphire. Flawless!

From our last trip to Sri Lanka in November 2006, comes this shimmering, pastel, "padparadscha" sapphire, weighting 1.52 ct., pastel, orange with  slightly pink overtones, perfectly executed, master, elongated emerald, step cut, measuring 8.91x4.93.44mm, flawless gem, IF-VVS type2 from the gem fields of Ratnapura, Sri Lanka. We purchased the rough at an auction in Marapana, and we cut it according to the elongated shape of the crystal. A very gentle, low heat of 1/2 hour, using the ancient method of local pipe blowing has been applied to remove the hint of silk that was localized in one part of the stone. Then we cut it. A marvelous result, a magnificent lustrous and flawless gem that has to be seen to be believed! A gift!

Top, amazing color, ultra-shimmering, Ceylon apatite. A delight!

This is an exceptional apatite with a super intense, strong, medium-dark, "neon" greenish blue. The finest color an apatite can get. See it in person to believe it. This beauty weights 3.63 ct., medium-dark, strong "neon", greenish-blue color, excellent, oval, Portuguese cut, measuring 11.5x8.9x5.5mm, flawless gem, type2 from Sri Lanka. The name derives from the Greek "apato" that translates as "deceiving", most likely because apatite with its different colors can resemble other gem varieties. Apatite hardness is 5-5.5 on the Mohs scale, therefore it should be worn as a  pendant. This one has one of the finest color I have ever seen. Amazingly beautiful!

We did purchase the rough at the market in Nivitigala, at 7:15AM being the first piece offered to us. This is a top color, completely unheated pink-orange sapphire with ideal color. The rarest of all sapphire colors, it commands huge prices anywhere. Been lucky to pick it up together with few other sapphires, after a 3 days dealing. It weights 1.60 ct., medium, intense, pink-orange color (with perfect blend of the two colors!), very good, "antique Ceylon" rectangular, cushion, mixed cut, measuring 7.16x5.09x4.18mm, eye flawless, VVS to VS type2 from the gem fields of Pelmadulla, Sri Lanka. Exceptionally gorgeous, extremely rare, 12 ct., untreated Ceylon hessonite garnet. None like it!

A bad picture of this exceptional hessonite garnet. Guaranteed an amazing gem with no peers around.
